"In design, as in life, I'm drawn to beauty in its many forms: the more obvious elegant object, as well as the whimsical, decorative piece. For me, eclectic does not mean mixing together whatever you have, but rather a reverence for a process where pieces need to relate to one another in a philosophical, playful and unexpected way."

Laura Ricci began designing interiors after many years of working in the business world and then raising a family. Her love of decoration goes back to her childhood where, as the daughter of a widowed mother who was constantly changing her small and crowded space, she learned the power of transformation at a very young age. A graduate of Fordham University with a degree in Social Ethics and Comparative Literature, Laura initially worked in publishing and advertising and was involved in the start-up of the prestigious Art and Antiques magazine. Later she enrolled in the New York School of Interior Design and began to take on clients ranging from small decorating projects to larger residential renovations.

"There is not always a clear plan for why we do what we do in life. I have always been interested in studying the values of different cultures and seeing the world in a different light. These inspirations infuse and enrich my work as a designer today."

After moving from Manhattan to Montclair, New Jersey, Laura's desire for transformation resulted in two extensive renovations of her own homes while simultaneously attending design school. The showroom concept grew out of her passion for discovering new design talents and her frustration with limited design resources in the suburbs. Nestled in a 1930's renovated brass works building with a prominent local builder and architect as her neighbors, she has created a showcase for all the things she loves. Artisans and designers from the United States and Europe are showcased and furnishings and accessories are seamlessly mixed in a dynamic setting, created to inspire and delight.

"The showroom is not only a retail showplace but also a studio where my design sense evolves, and where I continue to explore new ideas for designing spaces. I approach every interior as an individual composition, and like any great painting, a space comes alive over time, layer by layer with varying textures, shapes and colors."
